Mariëlle Sleumer
Mariëlle Sleumer, born in Den Bosch in the Netherlands, and raised in the picturesque Berlicum, is an artist whose creative journey is deeply rooted in her childhood. As a child, Mariëlle was already engaged in drawing, painting, and designing her own clothes, nurturing her love for art from an early age.
Although she initially took a different path after high school, guided by her family's entrepreneurial spirit, she never gave up on her true passion.
An artist in entrepreneurial shoes
At the age of 24, Mariëlle founded her own advertising agency, combining her creative flair with her business skills. However, art always remained present in the background. It was only after a profound event in her life, the sudden death of the father of her children, that Mariëlle fully immersed herself in painting as an outlet for her feelings and emotions.
She no longer painted according to traditional norms but allowed her inner world to flow freely onto the canvas, without succumbing to the pressure of expectations. This process of emotional expression and self-discovery played a crucial role in her healing.
Experimental and Free
Mariëlle experimented with various materials and styles, from oil and acrylic to mixed media, exploring both abstract and expressionist forms, as well as liquid art.
While still searching for her own unique style, she cherished the diversity and openness that characterize her art. This diversity reflects her vision of the world, where she is always willing to embrace both the beauty and the rawness of life.
